We found B&B 36 in Oxford to be the perfect base in a quiet neighborhood to visit the city and explore the many surrounding areas in the Cotswold. It is within walking distance of restaurants, shops, bus service, and grocery stores. There was parking on the property for one car, but there was also parking close by.
A beautifully maintained home, with lovely rooms, that gets full marks for cleanliness, and charm. We stayed in the upstairs bedroom that faced the front street. It had a beautiful bathroom, big shower with plenty of hot water, heated floors and towel rack.
An English breakfast (eggs, sautéed mushrooms, sautéed tomatoes, brown beans, bacon, sausages) was served each morning in the glass atrium and was a hearty way to start the day. Or you could choose the delicious, hot porridge with apples sautéed in a brown sugar cinnamon sauce over top. All breakfasts included, yogurt, juice, coffee/tea, fresh cut fruit, toast, cereals and home made jams that we especially enjoyed.
We would arrive back from our day’s adventure to a homemade snack of dessert squares,/brownies on the kitchen counter. There was coffee, teabags and a hot water kettle that was available 24/7 for us to use. This was a nice touch!
Tessa was a wonderful hostess and owner. She was genuinely warm, with a great friendly personality. She made us feel like we were staying at a friend’s home
Our 5 nights at B&B 36 were memorable. Our stay was excellent and it was a place that we would want to come back to again!
